I like the double meaning of "Deceptive Practices" and agree that anything w/ the word "Blood" in it tends toward the Horror genre so avoid that if you're not going that route. The story sounds intriguing if you can keep it moving and original. I...

Hi Debra, my first reaction when i read the outline of your story was to zero in on the legal aspect of your story. Later when I read your comment that you are planning a sequel to the story it reinforced my initial thought. "A Case of Bad Blood"...

When we lose a loved one it is a tragedy in itself, but when we lose a loved one and we are estranged it is even more difficult and painful.
I lost my mother in 1996 and we were estranged two years because she was an alcoholic. I blamed her for our problems, but I was just as much at fault. I didn't make an effort to reconcile.
I feel guilty that she didn't know I was sorry or I forgave her.
I wrote this piece to share with all who have l… Continue

Eleven Stepping Stones to Christian Contentment Chapter One Cast Your Cares Unto the Lord snippet

Cast Your Cares Unto the Lord

Casting all your cares upon Him; for He careth for you.
I Peter 5:7

Got the world on your shoulders? Cast your cares unto the Lord!

It seems like only yesterday I was a child without any cares in the world. I didn’t have to worry about paying the bills, putting food on the table, or raising children. I didn’t fully understand my mother’s worries about such exigencies of life until I became a wife and mother many years later.

Eleven Stepping Stones for Christian Contentment

Eleven Stepping Stones for Christian Contentment
God has planted a seed in my heart and mind to compile a non-fiction devotional book on Christian contentment. So many people I know are struggling daily in their fatih and hope. They have lost their contentment. I already have the "meat" completed, just got to put it all together.
The stepping stones are simple and through God's wisdom and inspiration are found in the word "contentment".

I will include 11 chapters, each beginning with a Bible ve… Continue

They all represent Children's books. I figured you may want to look into an agent after the whole scam publisher issue.

Hey, I actually just did a whole search on agents for children's books for my teacher. I got them all off the blog of the editor of Guide to Literary Agents. If you'd like the list. Here it is: Teresa Kietlinski at Prospect Literary, Barry Goldblatt at Barry Goldblatt Literary, Adriana Dominguez: Full Circle Literary, Brenda Bowen: of Sanford Greenburger Associates: Newish agent, Mark McVeigh: McVeigh agency, Paul Rodeen: Rodeen Literary Management, Kelly Sonnack: Andrea Brown Literary Agency

Hope that helps :]

Thanks for the info, and as I posted on the childrens group page, I have been in your shoes before. Don't stay disappointed. Lets remember to stay focused, keep moving forward and never let anyone take our dreams away. As writers for children, we need to help inspire them to dream, we can't afford to lose our own dreams due to bad business, rejection letters, or writers block. Thanks again for the info, it is a great lesson learned which you have shared with all of us and I know that is part of why this community exists. However, just in case you are disappointed or feel cheated, forget about it and move on. Go and find the right publisher - smile! I know you believe in yourself and your work, don't waste any energy on the negative feelings. You are so much greater than that! God will direct you and the book published in HIs way in His time. Remember you are loved!
