A Tearing Down of Self

My feet are part of the floor.
It is not a simple case of splinters blurring the boundary of skin and wood.
It is vibrating, sunken, and non-negotiatable.
My extremities are burning with the ends of nerves ablaze with sensory

Upon the realization that I cannot reach the top shelves in my apartment without a grandiose launch of myself upon a counter or a fling of the object upward without a plan of getting it down, I head out to buy a step ladder. Chapter 1:
The sun warms my face and I think, I should be happier. With my back against the earth I look up to the heavens, or fluffy clouds, or to what I’m told a gem of a day here in London when the sky proves it’s blue.
I detect no difference in the texture of the pitch, the tread-over grass that covers this small piece of Hyde Park to any other field in any other city park where I’ve abandoned my responsibilities to simply lie down, look up, and just breathe.
